The keel of the third supertrawler for the Russian Fishery Company was laid in St. Petersburg

At the Admiralty Shipyards (St. Petersburg), the keel of the third of ten fishing vessels for the Russian Fishing Company (RFC) was laid. The head of the RFC’s monitoring group at the Admiralty Shipyards Sergey Sereda and the chief builder of the surface shipbuilding department of the Admiralty Shipyards Vladimir Nadtocheev installed the memorial plate.

A series of supertrawlers is being built in pairs. The first two vessels were launched in March and June 2020. It is planned that each vessel of the series will be built in a shorter time than the previous one.

“With each new vessel of the series, we plan to increase the degree of saturation of the vessel before launching. This will allow us to shorten the completion period and speed up the commissioning of vessels,” Dmitry Sapov, RFC’s deputy CEO for the construction of the fleet, commented.

The trawler will be named “Mechanic Sizov” in honor of the fishing fleet veteran, senior mechanic Vladimir Sizov (1936-2013), who has devoted more than 30 years to working on whaling fleet vessels and fishing trawlers.

Supertrawlers for the RFC are the largest and most technologically saturated Russian fishing vessels. Each new vessel is designed for an annual catch of more than 60 thousand tons of fish, which is 2.5 times higher than the productivity of vessels, which today form the basis of the fishing fleet in the Far East of the Russian Federation. Investments in the construction of a series of 10 vessels exceed 65 billion rubles.

The features of the new fleet will be significantly increased production capacity, maximum safety, high environmental friendliness and improved working and leisure conditions for crews. The vessels will be equipped with a modern factory capable of deep non-waste processing of the catch into products with high added value, primarily Pollock fillet and surimi.
